Egg In A Hole Cheese Sandwich | Kids Recipe

The simplest things in life give the most amount of pleasure and the egg in a hole cheese sandwich is a great example that proves this fact because it is oh-so-easy to make and children simply love it!

Ingredients:

  • Whole Wheat Bread 2 slices
  • Egg 1
  • Cheese Slice 1
  • Butter 1 Tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper powder to taste
  • Ketchup 1 Tsp

Makes: 1 sandwich

Method

  1. Using a cookie cutter or anything that can cut through a slice of bread, make a hole in one of the bread slices.
  2. Take a pan big enough to fit two bread slices side by side.
  3. Heat pan.
  4. Make flame low and melt butter in the pan. Butter burns easily and hence, melting it on low heat is important.
  5. Put both the bread slices into the pan with the butter.
  6. Flip bread slices over once the sides have browned.
  7. Break the egg into the hole of the cut bread.
  8. Put the slice of cheese on the other bread slice.
  9. Cover pan to melt cheese and cook an egg.
  10. When the egg is cooked and cheese has melted, uncover the pan and sprinkle salt and pepper powder on the egg.
  11. Remove the bread slice with cheese onto a plate and place slice with egg on top of the cheese.
  12. Make a smiley on the cooked yolk with some ketchup and serve immediately.

Note: Making a smiley is easiest when ketchup is in a squeeze bottle.

While this is the simplest way of using the egg-in-a-hole, you could also sneak in some vegetables along with the cheese. I have tried stir-frying sweet corn, bell peppers and tomatoes and putting on the cheese and then, sandwiching it with the egg slice. You could also add bacon in with the cheese.

Here is the nutritive value of this wholesome sandwich.
