7 Things Which Makes Your Child’s Bedtime Fun

Bedtime is a time to bond with your child over fun bedtime stories and games. However, it necessarily isn’t easy to put their mind and body at rest. Some bedtime rules can help you to put your child to sleep faster and makes Bedtime fun.

Kids are full of energy and sometimes this energy is difficult to spend. An active child finds it difficult to put himself to sleep, which can turn out to be extremely frustrating and exhausting for you.

Let’s face it, bedtime means the end of fun time and kids never want their fun to end. It is important to make bedtime fun time without any added stress.

List of things you can do to make bedtime fun time.

  1. Inform them

There are two things you need to inform your child to avoid the bedtime tantrums.

  • How much time is left for them to play? Announce the time when at least half an hour to one hour is left to their bedtime.
  • Tell them that you will come and check up on them to see whether they have slept or not.

If your child knows that only so much time is left, he can mentally be better prepared. Also, if you announce that you will come back to check up on them, they will not feel alone or abandoned.

  1. Same time, every day

Following a routine is crucial for a child. No matter what or how much they beg, ensure that the child sleeps at the agreed time.

  1. No screen timeBedtime stories

Your child needs to have no screen time at least 2 hours before you plan to put him to bed. A screen in the form of TV, computer, tablet or phone provides a lot of stimulus to the brain. A stimulated brain finds it difficult to sleep. While the child is away from the screen, he can either do some art and craft, play with siblings or do homework.

  1. Dim the lights

Create an atmosphere for the child to feel calm and relaxed. Dim lights set the mood for sleep. While the lights are dim, you can indulge in some fun bedtime activities.

  1. Bedtime playBedtime fun

After they have taken shower and dressed in their pj’s, it is time for some quality time with mommy and/or daddy. You can read some fun bedtime stories or play some fun bedtime games. Bedtime stories can unlock creativity in your child. Play games that can be played while lying down. Games where your child has to think or create help in tiring him mentally. So, let him narrate you a story once in awhile.

  1. Night Walks

If you think your child still has some energy left in him, you can go for a walk. Depending on the weather, you can go outside and take a stroll.

  1. Soothing musicBedtime stories

Sometimes, putting some soothing music while bedtime play can help a child go to sleep. You can turn it off on your way out.

Bring some fun to the bedtime by playing some games and spending some quality time with them. With no sugar to burn out in their systems, soothing music, dim light and a fun parent who narrates fun bedtime stories, your child will fall asleep instantly.
