Bio

The establishment stone of St. Vincent's School was laid by Dr. Meulman S.J., Archbishop of Calcutta, on 25 October 1919. 

The historical backdrop of the school goes back to1914, when a board of trustees, Calcutta Improvement Trust was framed for opening up the congested parts of Calcutta. One of the streets, 100 feet wide, was intended to go through Chowringee Road to the Cathedral in Moorghihatta, where it was to go through the Catholic male halfway house. This would leave CMO without a play area and kitchen. On a visit to St Patrick's Asansol, Br Arsenius Ryan, the commonplace of the Brothers, examined an open halfway developed plot of 50 bighas as a conceivable site for the Orphanage. The site was bought and with the expansion of encompassing plots, it expanded to 390 bighas, the property on which St. Vincent's currently stood. Br Joseph Moyes was chosen to superintend the erection of the structures 

In 1927 Br. Gabriel Pakenham was delegated predominant and the principal clump of 29 young men took up habitation. They were before long joined by 20 more.
